Knowing what you know about law, would you do it again?
I decided to go to law school after a nearly 20-year career in the field of music. I went to law school when I was in my early 30s, whereas most of my colleagues at the University of Minnesota were 22. It was a unique experience, but one that I would repeat the same way. I think law school is a great career. The legal career, the legal profession is a great career for anyone. I do feel that my career path was right for me. I think going into law school with a little bit more life experience was useful to me.
I lived in New York for 20 years. I lived in New York through September 11th, which was life changing, and I had a unique perspective coming to law school. However, my colleagues who were in law school, who were in their 20s were also extremely intelligent and significantly impacted my learning.
I would not discourage anyone going to law school after a prior career. I think it is also a wonderful way to come into the law.
